PvE : Zealous sword of defence/fortitude
PvP : Vamp/Elemental sword of fortitude/defence or something along those lines. |

I kinda like Vamp for PvE as well, actually, but I guess that'd really come down to "Does the build need Zealous?"

a strider blade.
honestly though, you can't expect a straight answer for this, as your weapon should be build dependant. for example, although a zealous mod is perfect for general usage, it's useless if you want to run conjure <element>. +15% while enchanted is useless if you don't use any enchantments. and so forth and so on. it depends on your build. |

One with +5 energy would be good. After that, see above - it depends on the build.

There is no 1 best sword.
You'll need several (minimum 3) different swords to be any good. If you have only 1 sword then you'll be good at one thing and less good at the others. 1. Vamp sword of fort/defense main damage 2. Furious sword of fort/defense a swap for when you're not hitting stuff 3. elemental sword of fort/def to kill monsters with less resistance to elemental damage 4. Different element sword of fort/def same as 3 but for monsters with a certain resistance 5. Zealous sword of fort/def utility sword to gain energy For PvE you'll probably never need barbed, cruel, crippling or poisonous unless you are highly advanced (even then, bleh, stuff dies easily anyway) Never ever use sundering. It's like Ghonnorhea. If you've never heard about it, the name might sound like a cool thing to have but when you have it.... SUndering does average of maybe +1 damage per hit while vamp does +3 damage AND heals you for 3 per hit. Calculate in the degen and vamp only heals for like 1 per hit but it still heals. Sundering loses. (and it doesn't even work that way, it only adds +20 ap every 20 hits out of 100 which is a lot or almost nothing at all. It's a specialty mod for special cases) Suffixes... Of swordsmanship is dumb but some find it useful, whatever floats your boat. Of defense adds +5 unstrippable defense vs everything. it may sound like a small amount but it should take away at least 1 point of damage per hit you take. 1 point of damage is a lot if you start adding it all up.. Of fortitude lets you live longer while being degened. For PvP I have no idea. I don't really use PvP chars for PvP anymore but you'll probably do fine with a bleeding/deepwound/cripple of fortitude and a vamp of fortitude |
